Utah is finally getting a bit sick and tired of the federal government’s arrogance as seen in its constant theft of land and the state is making moves to take its land back from Obama’s rapacious government.
One of the big problems with the federal government these days is that it no longer seems to think it has any limits. From the president, to Congress, to the courts, to the president’s regulatory framework, the federal government thinks it can do anything it wants at any time if feels like doing it.
We can thank Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt for this legacy of unconstitutional arrogance, but regardless, it is an every day occurrence, now. And it looks like Utah is finally saying STOP!
In three weeks, Utah intends to seize control of 31.2 million acres of its own land now under the control of the federal government. At least, that’s the plan.
In an unprecedented challenge to federal dominance of Western state lands, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert in 2012 signed the “Transfer of Public Lands Act,” which demands that Washington relinquish its hold on the land, which represents more than half of the state’s 54.3 million acres, by Dec. 31.
So far, however, the federal government hasn’t given any indication that it plans to cooperate. Still, state Rep. Ken Ivory, who sponsored the legislation, isn’t deterred.
It’s about time that some state started to refuse to sit idly back and let Obama and the federal government to run roughshod over them.
